Safe Weight Loss Diet - Is Your Diet Dangerous?

It seems strange to have to write an article on safe weight loss diet plans. What other kind of weight loss plan would you want?

Well, based upon how many men and women end up in hospitals or mentally depressed after hurting themselves with bad dieting advice I guess it's time to add my two cents worth.

Many diets don't promote safe weight loss.

According to statistics there are over 50,000 diet books on the market.

50,000! Many of them are inherently unsafe. A common flaw with bad diet plans is that they are nutritionally out of balance, they recommend too much of one kind of food and not enough of the others.

At times they recommend, no fat, no carbs, no meat, or no dairy. Your diet choices might be the grapefruit only diet, the bananas only diet, the water only diet, the lettuce only diet. Only. Only. Only!! You get the picture.

Follow their advice too closely, for too long, and you WILL hurt yourself to one degree or another. As you can see, many diets are totally out of balance. That's a problem.

Unbalanced diet plans don't work.

The vast majority of diets don't work. Period. And here's the irony of the whole thing, many diets cause you to gain weight! It's been proven over and over again that most people end up being heavier after quitting a bad diet than they were before the diet.

Why?

Because people get so fed up with monotonous one food only diet plans they eventually just say forget it and start eating the way they used to eat, only more so.

Unsafe weight loss diets are too strict or too complex.

The common denominator, if you're looking for one when it comes to dangerous diets, is that they are ALWAYS too something. Too severe with their calorie cutting or too boring with their elimination of anything that tastes good.

Because people give up on them so frequently they produce an I-Can't-Lose-Weight-No-Matter-What mentality. Bad diets produce frustration and bad attitudes when it comes to weight loss.

Most dieters who fail to lose weight blame it on themselves and not on the diet. They figure that if they didn't lose the weight that the creator of the diet plan promised then THEY must be the problem and not the diet. Too bad because it's simply not true.

Aggressive Weight Loss

A serious problem that shows up for a person who has failed a dozen bad diet plans is the temptation to resort to aggressive methods of weight loss.

It's not unusual for a desperate person to start taking weight loss drugs if they believe it will help them lose weight. It's not unusual to test out the starvation for weight loss route, or practice the dangerous regurgitate-your-food-weight loss-technique.

Aggressive dieting methods are even more unhealthy and hard on than your typical bad diet plan.

Conclusion

Diets can be dangerous. Just because you find one in a book or on the Internet doesn't mean it's healthy. Avoid diets that are unbalanced or too difficult to understand or that expect you to go long periods of time trying to live on only one kind of food.

You CAN lose weight, even if you've failed a hundred times. What you need is a proper blend of healthy nutrition information, fat burning exercises and metabolism boosting advice so can lose weight safely without drugs, surgery or other stupid stuff...
